Hammering Shapes

Hammer away, design, and play! Hammering real nails through pre-drilled wooden tiles into a corkboard encourages children to hone fine motor skills as they create.

Children can reproduce the 12 designs on the wooden cards or create their own. Tiles can be removed, then repositioned to create an infinite variety of patterns and pictures.

This open-ended activity allows children to refine their small motor skills as they work. Ages 4+

• Wooden mallet (6½" long)

• 108 brass nails (We suggest you use a small dish or plastic box such as B104 to hold your nails)
• Corkboard (7" x 9⅜"; ⅜" thick)
