Naturally beautiful, round food-safe bowl with a smooth finish that looks and feels so inviting. Use this food-safe bowl in the kitchen area, for presenting something special, for a transferring or sorting exercise, and for serving.
Handcrafted in the Philippines of native South Pacific acacia wood. Acacia trees are fast-growing and are ecologically forested (cut to allow continued tree growth). Hand wash. 4" base dia.; 1¼" deep. The color and wood of each piece is unique. Size and shape may vary slightly.
Acacia feels good in the hands. We have it in many forms in our home and classroom. The size of this bowl is just right for holding dry transfer mediums, beads, or a set of language cards. As I understand, they are water resistant, but it's best not to soak them when cleaning. I just brush out any dry materials with a dry cloth. They seem to be in constant use, so I have no idea how they hold up to being stored in a cupboard. I own both the round and square bowls. For size comparison, the round bowls hold about double the capacity than the square bowls. But I love both and enjoy the variety.
The two bowls are not the same size, one rim is higher than the other. They do not look nice on the shelf. I understand they are handmade and can not be the exact same size but the person packing it should compare the two first. Disappointing..
My 17 mo son and his 12 mo playmate use the bowls for snack and meals. They are just the right size for small hands. I like that they are lightweight, easy to clean and won't break when dropped. They work especially well for helping them push food on to their spoons, because the sides are curved! We ordered three and there was a lot of variation in thickness of the edges and color.
