A clear acrylic case covers these music boxes allowing children to see inside and watch music in the making. Holding the knob and turning the crank helps children develop the pincer grip and refine small motor movement.
Miniature Music Boxes are perfect for walking on the line and for demonstrating tempo.
The case covers all the moving parts of the instrument, except the handle. We've seen many variations on this design, and this is our favorite. 3¼" x 2" 1¼" high. Base color and crank handle may vary.
Ages 3+, with careful presentation.
Please note: These are not "wind-up" music boxes which are wound and then listened to. The music only plays when the handle of the music box is turned. The music tempo will vary with the speed of which the handle is cranked.
I love the item, and would place new orders, but I still cannot do so until my last order is completed. I shouldn’t have to work so hard for this! It’s frustrating.
This is a great opportunity for turning a handle with precision. i like the control of error, the music wont play unless the handle is turned in the right direction. However, the plastic cover, cracked and broke the very first day of use. We are still using it without the cover.
Children (and adults) are mesmerized by these adorable music boxes. We have several and we like listening and identifying the tunes. The birthday one is part of our family birthday ritual now. Good quality with a sweet nostalgic sound only a music box can provide. I like the see thru box so kids can see how it works. Plastic can crack if dropped too many times but still works fine. Requires some fine motor coordination so kids like the challenge. Most two and a half year olds can figure it out. But kids much older want turns as well. A bit awkward for lefties but we make do. I've given several as gifts and the recipients are always delighted.
The children love using these little music boxes in the classroom. I keep the "Happy Birthday" one with the items in my birthday "walk around the sun" basket. The child walking around the sun for their birthday celebration gets to play the music as he/she walks.
Grandchildren ages 6, 4 and 22 months love these music boxes! These are special in that unlike other music boxes which they love, they can actually see how the notes are played.
The little music boxes are wonderful; giving the child pleasant renditions of the songs along with the visual experience of seeing how the music is made. "I can play it myself". It's soft-sounding enough to be used in the classroom and does indeed use the same grip as the child is learning to use with a pencil.
Granddaughter loved it but at 1+ yrs Old. was a little hard for her to turn the handle. She loved listening to it when someone else turned it. She will be a le to turn it very shortly.
I haven't given it to my daughter yet, but I tried it out and found it cute, easy to use, and nice sound. I remember liking watching the works of the music box when I was a kid and think my daughter will find it interesting, too.
