Celma Perry

Celma Perry Celma Perry was born and raised in Brazil. After accepting an invitation to become a novice in 1952, she travelled by transatlantic ocean liner to France, where she was eventually introduced to the Montessori Method. She returned to Brazil in 1956, and immediately began work opening a Montessori program in Sao Paulo. There Celma completed her university work, and continued advocating for justice and human rights.

Amid growing political pressure and fear, Celma left her homeland and eventually arrived in Chicago, where she was designer, coordinator, and head teacher of the Seton Montessori School. Since then Celma has educated, lectured and inspired countless around the globe. In 2005 she received the American Montessori Society Living Legacy Award. Today she is happily retired and still enjoys her contemplative life.
