My 2.5 year old son (who goes to a Montessori preschool) LOVES this bell and runs around the house with it all day long, even a month after we got it. He does "walk the line" with it also. The sound is not too loud and it's pleasant to hear even for the grown ups. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that he is able to pry open the wire that holds the little dinger piece. He figured this out within a day or two and at his age that could be dangerous, but it also got lost a couple of times. Luckily I could fix it easily and he soon lost interest in doing that.
This comes in three pieces: handle, bell and ringer. Unfortunately, the handle does not screw into the bell very well, so it looks 'askew.' More importantly, this bell is not very loud. The brass is very pretty, though. So that's something. It's cheap, too.
This little brass bell serves our Montessori classes for children large and small! I use this little brass bell to call our grandchildren to the table as well!
