The manageable size of this loom enables young children to easily complete simple projects, such as a purse, small pillow, or tapestry.
Thick wool yarn is easy for small fingers to manipulate. Warp threads are ¼" apart so children can visually track the over-and-under motion. Instead of a shuttle, children use a blunt needle to carry the yarn.

Peg Loom Weaving for Beginners
My five year old grandson has taken right to this little loom. He loves coming over and working on his ‘masterpiece’. It’s a great sturdy little loom perfect for a young one to grasp the idea of what weaving is.

Peg Loom Weaving for Beginners
I gave a loom to two of my granddaughters who are 5 years old. Before I wrapped it, I set it up so it was ready to go with the weaving. They have both enjoyed using it very much and seem to be proud of their accomplishments. They like choosing new colors for each row.

Peg Loom Weaving for Beginners
My children have the loveliest ideas about what to make. At 3, my daughter decided to build a wooden church playhouse in the yard "right now! Get me the wood Mommy." Now my children are 6 and 9 (the 9-yr-old is very cautious about taking on creative projects with anything but Legos). This loom thrilled them. They both succeeded at their first projects. Both gave their first projects as gifts. Both want to get out my larger loom to move on to bigger things. Everything worked as advertised. I saw a review that said the yarn was easy to break. We had some broken yarn. It was minor & a great opportunity to re-demonstrate proper tension. I may replace the plastic needle with something sturdier down the road.

Peg Loom Weaving for Beginners
Kids love it, its awesome however the yarns tend to break off easily when tugged at. Children will land up tugging and occasionally I have experienced it breaking loose when trying to fix a knot. The quality needs to be replaced as I have handled other kinds of yarn which are much more durable. Also perhaps the wood could be a little heavier to keep it from sliding around but its manageable.

Dear Globe Trotter, We are so glad that your children love this little loom. It is one of our favorite items. I spoke with the manufacturer about your concerns about the yarn. They explained that the yarn included in this kit is a loosely spun, single-ply, 100% wool yarn. It was selected for this kit by weavers because of its softness and because it makes an attractive finished project. The softer yarn also helps prevent the child from pulling the yarn too tightly and causing uneven salvages on the finished project. However, you may use any yarn with this kit. Children can also weave projects with strips of cloth instead of yarn. Please let us know if we can assist you further. Thank you for your comments. Kristine (Krissy) Beoka Merchandising Manager
